Hockmeyer Motors Ltd are very proud of their history of more than 70 years in the motor industry, and three generations of The Hockmeyer Family owning and running the business.
The Company was founded in Manchester in 1937, with Martin Hockmeyer, now retired and in his 90's, as one of the partners. During the war the garage was used for military oil storage and both partners, being engineers worked for A.V Roe building the famous Lancaster Bombers. In 1956 the garage was compulsory purchased to expand Manchester University, and a green field site was bought for relocation.
Martin's son David joined the firm in 1961, with the sole intention of buying out the other partner to make it a true family concern. In 1965, the company name was changed to Hockmeyer Motors, when the other partner retired.
David's daughter Rachael Hockmeyer and her husband Christian Slingsby joined the Hockmeyer Motors team in 1999, to enable the business to move into the new Millennium.

Rachael Hockmeyer
Rachael had been involved in the business as a teenager, but had been working as a store manager for a large catalogue retailer prior to her move back to the motor industry. Christian's previous was as an optical glazing technician, and before the move had been managing an Opticians.

Christian Slingsby
